Kyle and Jeff step back onto Canada’s Lake Simcoe for the first time in 6 years with one goal, targeting Burbot through the ice. It’s a fishery known for producing one of the strangest freshwater species in North America, a cold-water predator that is often considered bycatch while fishing for walleye. But this trip quickly takes a turn for the worst.
It’s late in the season despite traveling north to keep ahead of Spring, slush is building across the lake. Travel on the ice becomes a grind, even with a brand new Ski-Doo. The simple process of fishing becomes a constant battle against the conditions. The team keep moving, keep adapting, and break down what they’re seeing in real time.
Not every day on the ice goes according to plan. But days like this are where you learn the most. When the conditions turn, the gear fights you, and things don’t go your way…you either pack it up, or you keep pushing forward. They chose to keep going. Stay tuned for Part 2 of The Green Way Outdoors Lake Simcoe adventures when they target Perch!
